Old-fashioned Québec Baked Beans with CAMERON’S Amber Ale

Here’s a little recipe for Old-fashioned Québec Baked Beans with CAMERON’S Amber Ale that is so easy to make in the crockpot.

Ingredients

  • 1–1 1⁄2 lb navy beans (2 1/2 to 3 cups measure)
  • 4 cups of vegetable broth
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1⁄4 cup molasses
  • 1⁄4 cup maple syrup
  • 3⁄4 cup ketchup
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons vinegar
  • 1 1⁄2 teaspoons dry mustard (Keen’s brand is what we use)
  • 2–3tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • One teaspoon of tabasco sauce
  • 4 slices bacon (optional)
  • 1 can of Cameron’s Ambear Red Ale
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Cover beans with water and soak overnight.
  2. Rinse beans and pour in the crockpot
  3. Sear onions and bacon
  4. Mix together all ingredients
  5. Pour in crockpot and turn on high temperature
  6. Cook for 7 hours
  7. Note: check occasionally and keep beans covered with liquid (add more beer if necessary)
  8. Beans are ready when soft but still firm when tasting and sauce is thick.
