Introducing our latest creations

Two barley wines and our first ever foeder-aged beer

Where The Buffalo Roam, Early Bird Barley Wine and New Wood Brett Saison

As part of our 20th-anniversaryary celebration, Cameron’s Brewing Company is very pleased to introduce a new line-up of robust, complex and tasty beers.

“Aging beer in wooden barrels is a time-tested tradition that connects the amazing characteristics of the wood grain itself, as well as any wine or spirit that may have inhabited it before. This practice takes time and patience but complex and creative flavours can emerge which will both inspire us as well as remind us of the way beer used to be,” says Cameron’s Brewmaster Jason Britton.

Where Buffalo Roam

Inspired by the wild plains where thousands upon thousands of footsteps have been taken by a truly noble animal, Where the Buffalo Roam takes its roots in oak bourbon barrels so this barley wine style ale can slowly age and meld with the bold, deep flavours of the quintessential southern drink. With notes of dark fruit and hints of toasted coconut, combined with the sweet and warming flavour of bourbon, Where the Buffalo Roam is a real treat to lay down with after migrating home. We invite you to take this distinct passage travelled by wonderers.

Early Bird Breakfast Barley Wine

Barley wine is a strong ale that is intense in flavour. Lively and fruity, sometimes sweet, sometimes bittersweet, but always alcoholic. This style is typically brewed to a strength of 8-12% like wine, which is where the name barley wine comes from, though it is very much a beer.

Early Bird Breakfast Barley Wine is a strong ale that has been aged in bourbon barrels with two classic Canadian ingredients – Ontario maple syrup and cold steeped coffee. The result is an amalgamation of flavours that include molasses, caramelised sugar, toffee, white chocolate and dark fruits that give our barley wine a long finish that is a perfect with addition to your all-day breakfast.

New Wood Brett Saison

“We bought and have been experimenting with a virgin foeder to create a complex yet crisp and refreshing beer that we are thrilled to share with you,” adds Britton.

Traditionally used to ferment wine, large wooden barrels called foeders, a Dutch word (roughly translated as “giant oak barrel” and pronounced “fooder”), give beer a unique character not found with other methods of brewing.

New Wood Brett Saison was crafted adventurously with fruity Saison yeast, new world tropical hops and multiple strains of wild Brettanomyces yeast (colloquially referred to as “Brett,” hence its name). The fresh infusion of wild yeasts, long aged in a large, untamed oak barrel results in a mingling of flavours that are unique and pleasurable.
